NCAA Basketball: Arizona, Duke, and San Diego State rises in latest top 25 power rankings

15. Colorado State (12-1)
Colorado State answered nearly every challenge in the nonconference slate, including a 21-point win against a tough Creighton squad, an impressive performance against rival Colorado, and a few other wins over power conference foes. The lone blemish came at home against Saint Mary’s in early December but it’s forgivable against a talented Gaels squad. So what exactly is on the horizon for these Rams with nonconference play finished?
It wasn’t quite finished before this week, as they hosted Adams State on Friday night, getting an easy 106-61 win against the non-D1 opponent. It’s hard to gleam much against these kinds of foes; Colorado State’s second in two weeks, but seven different Rams scored at least 10 points while they shot 63% from the field as a team.
It’s obvious that limiting Creighton to 48 points is worlds more impressive than a season-high 106 against Adams State. Colorado State has proven they belong among the ranked but will certainly look to prove that against a strong MWC. There will be opportunities aplenty in the weeks ahead, starting with New Mexico at home on Tuesday and a tougher road game at Utah State over the weekend. Will Colorado State out as one of the favorites in this league?
