10. Iowa State (18-5)

The Cyclones haven’t found too much to complain about to this point in the season. Iowa State has beaten Houston and Kansas since Big 12 play began and have seen both their rankings and metrics rise in recent weeks as a result. They play outstanding defense and have been efficient on offense especially since the start of conference play.

They continued their winning ways this past week, starting with a 70-65 road win at Texas. A great team performance led the Cyclones to another impressive win away from home, getting 13 points from Milan Momcilovic. Saturday saw the Cyclones finish a sweep of TCU, winning 71-59 at home against the Horned Frogs. Tre King led with 15 points, Keshon Gilbert added 13, and the Cyclones shot 50% from the field in the victory.

Life in the Big 12 is hectic for every single member, but Iowa State sits at 7-3 and has answered the call during several of their recent challenges. This team continues to prove that they belong in the national conversation and can win with both sides of the ball. You aren’t going to be blown away by the star power on T. J. Otzelberger’s squad, but they are going to outwork you. We’ll see how they handle a road trip to Cincinnati this upcoming week.
