1. Connecticut (22-2)

The only blemishes this season for the defending national champions are true road games at Kansas and Seton Hall. The Huskies actually lost their Big East opener to those Pirates but have been on quite a roll in the weeks ever since, continuing to show why they have what it takes to potentially repeat as champions this season.

Back on Tuesday, they had a solid performance, securing a 71-62 home win against Butler, their 11th win in a row. They had a solid defensive effort against the Bulldogs and were led by Cam Spencer with 20 points while Donovan Clingan added 18 points and 14 rebounds. Despite being on the road, things were even easier over the weekend, as the Huskies delivered an 89-64 victory at Georgetown. Alex Karaban scored 25, Stephon Castle added 17, and Connecticut showed very little weakness against the Hoyas.

Winning twelve straight games in this Big East is an impressive feat and is further evidence that Connecticut is ahead of the pack. This team won big games even when Clingan was out injured. Now that he’s back, the Huskies truly are one of the best teams in the nation yet again and it’s full speed ahead with March on the horizon. After a trip to DePaul, they’ll get their first shot at Marquette next weekend.
