18. Tennessee Volunteers - Another scoring guard

Although losing Jonas Aidoo and Tobe Awaka, the Vols got good frontcourt replacements in Felix Okpara and Igor Milicic. To replace SEC Player of the Year Dalton Knecht, they’re hoping 18 ppg transfer Darlinstone Dubar will be the guy. But unless guys like Jordan Gainey and Jahmal Mashack can take another step as offensive players, Tennessee could struggle to score. That’s why they’re after Chaz Lanier, a 19 ppg scorer from North Florida with local ties.

17. Marquette Golden Eagles - Veteran big man

This might be a pointless statement here since Coach Shaka Smart hasn’t used the transfer portal in the last two years, including this offseason. But they lost two stars on the team in forward Oso Ighodaro and former Big East Player of the Year guard, Tyler Kolek. Star guard Kam Jones coming back gives them a lead guard but the frontcourt has more questions, though David Joplin could be a breakout candidate. They’re young overall inside so adding a big with experience would make sense.

16. Texas Longhorns - Frontcourt player with scoring potential

While Max Abmas and Tyrese Hunter were the lead guards for the Longhorns, Dylan Disu was arguably the MVP for the team in the frontcourt, averaging 15.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg. They do bring back defensive anchor center Kadin Shedrick and added 6’8 forward Jayson Kent from Saint Louis. But they aren’t great pure scorers compared to the rest of the SEC and they lack depth as well, since Dillon Mitchell is gone. Considering that Shedrick has dealt with injury issues as well, another big man would be ideal for the Longhorns.
