6. UConn Huskies - Veteran ball-handler or power forward

The Huskies have landed three notable newcomers to the roster this roster in former Michigan center Tarris Reed, Saint Mary’s shooting guard Aidan Mahaney, as well as 5-star wing, Liam McNeeley. But they haven’t added a point guard to replace All-American starter Tristen Newton, who did a little bit of everything for them. Veteran guard Hassan Diarra could be a starter, while sophomore Solomon Ball will be getting more time. Another proven ball-handler would be the best next move unless starting forward Alex Karaban opts to remain in the NBA Draft. In that case, replacing him would be more important.

5. Duke Blue Devils - An emergency big man

Realistically, Duke’s roster is all but set. They have a mix of several 5-star prospects joining the team again, along with four veteran transfers to give them needed experience. That includes former Syracuse forward Maliq Brown, who can play both the 4 and 5-spots. 5-star bigs Patrick Ngongba and Khaman Maluach could be “projects” who aren’t ready for big minutes so maybe one more center covers any potential remaining holes.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide - Guard if Mark Sears leaves/backup center

With Grant Nelson returning and landing Rutgers transfer Cliff Omoruyi, the frontcourt should be fine, though they may need another big man inside if Jarin Stevenson decides to stay in the NBA Draft. But they may need to find another scorer if star guard Sears stays in the draft as well, though it’ll be impossible to replace him with what’s left in the portal.
