7.  North Carolina Tar Heels

Biggest need: A big

Easing the loss of Armando Bacot is a mighty difficult task for Hubert Davis. To find his replacement, North Carolina has been active in the portal, making the top-12 list for Rutgers transfer Cliff Omoruyi and targeting Tennessee transfer Jonas Aidoo, who averaged 11.4 PPG and 7.3 RPG for the Volunteers last season. Jalen Washington is a frontcourt development piece to monitor but the Heels will need more experience at the center spot to keep the momentum moving forward in Chapel Hill.

 6. Kansas Jayhawks

Biggest need: Depth and perimeter scoring

Kansas had one of the most talented starting fives last year but limited depth plagued the Jayhawks down the stretch and severely limited their ceiling even when Kevin McCullar was healthy. The Jayhawks have done strong work in the portal, adding transfer portal pieces such as Florida transfer Riley Kugel, Summit League Player of the Year Zeke Mayo, and most notably, Wisconsin transfer AJ Storr, who gives Bill Self a proven high-level go-to scorer. Even with the improved portal haul, expect the Jayhawks to add more -- such as a high-level perimeter scorer -- even with the pending decisions from Hunter Dickinson and Dajuan Harris, both of whom have their COVID year of eligibility remaining.
