19. Miami (FL) Hurricanes

Biggest need: Defensive improvements

Jim Larrañaga returns Nigel Pack, Wooga Poplar and Matthew Cleveland, marking a tremendous core to build around. The sixth-best overall recruiting class headlined by Jalil Bethea, according to 24/7, alongside portal additions from Lynn Kidd (Virginia Tech) and Brandon Johnson (East Carolina) makes all the reasons for a bounce-back year. Yet, the defense must improve. Even if that may not be a specific roster need, it’s too glaring of an issue to not address. Last season, Miami's KenPom AdjD was just 103.0, the 112nd-best in the entire country and the 13th-best in the ACC. 10 of their 17 losses came when their opponents scored 80+ points -- that must change in 2024-25.

18. Boise State Broncos

Biggest need: Spot-up shooting guard

Boise State will return Tyson Degenhart and O’mar Stanley -- two of the team’s top three scorers -- but unfortunately for the Broncos, all are frontcourt-like players. The biggest question for Boise State, despite losing Chibuzo Agbo to the transfer portal on April 18: Who can replace the role of Max Rice, the son of Boise State head coach Leon Rice? Can San Jose State transfer Alvaro Cardenas to fill that void? Can Jace Witting step up? More questions than answers regarding perimeter shooting but Boise State is still in strong shape to have a successful 2024-25 campaign.
