#9 Oklahoma: 80-71 loss at TCU
After taking care of business against a tough Iowa State squad on Saturday, Porter Moser’s Oklahoma Sooners fell short in Fort Worth on Wednesday, losing 80-71 to TCU.
It was just their second loss of the year and Oklahoma – who sports a strong 92.4 adjD rating, according to KenPom – gave up 80+ points in both of their two losses.
If the Sooners want to separate themselves near the top of the Big 12, finding ways to limit points off turnovers – especially in transition – would be an ideal place to start.
Level of concern: 2/10
Oklahoma may have lost on Wednesday, but I think the loss reflects more on the strength and brutalities of road games in the Big 12 rather than any negative inclination on this year’s Oklahoma squad.
The Sooners still have one of the more difficult defenses to prepare against in the Big 12 due to their improved physicality and athletics. The dynamic guard play of Otega Oweh, Javian McCollum and Milos Uzhan gives the Sooners plenty of upside – and less room for concern – heading into the heart of Big 12 play. Up next for the Sooners includes a daunting trip to Allen Fieldhouse to take on the Kansas Jayhawks.
