Who is the most underrated player in the country?

This is always something I ponder and many answers will always lead to a glue guy who comes in and gets a tough bucket or lock down on defense or makes the right play at the right time. Many would tell you that but if you ask me who the most underrated player in the country is in 2024 I would tell you that he resides in Omaha and plays in the Big East. His name is Baylor Scheierman and he is one of the most decorated college basketball players to ever play the game.

The Creighton guard is the only mens player to ever have at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 made three pointers  and 500 assists. No other player in Mens college basketball history has ever accomplished that feat. In fact Scheierman is in rare air as only two women have accomplished the feat and it's not Caitlin Clark, at least not yet. Scheierman joins Maya Moore and Sabrina Ionescu as the only three players to ever accomplish those numbers and he has done it on a Creighton team where he is the star on the floor but is overshadowed by Ryan Kalkbrenner and Trey Alexander nationally. Scheierman should be recognized as one of the best and most consistent players in the country. He is the most important player to Creighton’s success when he plays well the BlueJays usually win.

The guard is a Nebraska native and started his career at South Dakota State. His second season at South Dakota State he put up one of the best statistical years ever for the best Jackrabbits team ever. South Dakota State lost to Providence in the NCAA tournament that season and the guard decided to transfer back to his home state. He was one of the best transfers in the portal that season and when he chose Creighton it immediately turned them into a contender nationally.

Kalkbrenner and Alexander have been getting all of the publicity nationally but Scheierman deserves more publicity nationally for what he is doing. Creighton is going to go as far as their guard takes them this year and when he is right and playing like one of the most consistent players ever they can make a Final Four this year.
