14. Duke (13-4)
While they showed signs of struggle earlier in the year, Duke had really gotten things together in recent weeks. Among that stretch was a great win against Baylor and a hot start to ACC play, with some of that impressive young talent playing much better for Jon Scheyer and company. Unfortunately, the Blue Devils hit another rough patch this week to a surprising opponent yet again.
Less than two weeks after a 22-point road win at Pittsburgh, Duke faced the Panthers at home in a rematch and things did not go as expected. The Blue Devils fell 80-76 with a rough defensive performance, losing at home for the second time this season. Jared McCain had 20 points, Kyle Filipowski had 19, but the Blue Devils suffered massive letdown ending an 8-game winning streak.
During that long winning streak, things were looking great in Durham. The Blue Devils had figured things out after some tough performances earlier in the season, while Filipowski and the rest of that talent was figuring it out, especially on offense. That good will fell away with their performance against the Panthers, but it’s not the end of the world. They’re a few games back in the conference race with some rough games ahead, though they should be able to win at Louisville.
