NCAA Basketball: Houston, Arizona, Auburn rise in latest top 25 power rankings

9. Auburn (16-2)
This season has been going pretty well for Auburn and recent results certainly prove that. The metrics have loved the Tigers all season despite a nonconference schedule that wasn’t exactly full of opportunities. A loss to Appalachian State in early December remains their most recent blemish as their streak of winning continued this week.
Their perfect start to SEC play continued on Wednesday with an 80-65 road win at Vanderbilt. Jaylin Williams scored 21 points and Johni Broome (15 points, 12 rebounds) had a double-double in a nice road win. Saturday went even better for the Tigers, who welcomed a ranked Ole Miss squad to town and sent them packing after an 82-59 win. Broome and Williams both had 13 points as the Tigers significantly outplayed the Rebels for a 5-0 start to conference play.
Not only are they sitting pretty in the SEC, Auburn has won eleven games in a row and looks like a potential favorite in this conference. Things are going pretty well on both sides of the ball and Broome is proving to be a massive weapon in the frontcourt. They’ll look to continue that hot start but it’ll get much more difficult, with upcoming road games at Alabama and Mississippi State.
