15. Creighton Bluejays - 16-6 (7-4 Big East)

There was a stretch for Creighton where the offense was struggling, losing 3 of 4 games at the start of league play. They since looked like normal, winning 7 of the last 8 games, including wins over Seton Hall and Xavier recently.

The Bluejays had just one game this week, taking on Butler at home. The Bulldogs have been much improved compared to last season and find themselves on the bubble but Creighton was still favored. However, it turned into a shootout, with both teams refusing to defend or miss shots.

In the end, Creighton took a surprise loss, 99-98 in regulation. Four players scored all but four points combined for them, with Baylor Scheierman leading the way with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Steven Ashworth also had 26 points in his best game in a Bluejays uniform. Trey Alexander and Ryan Kalkbrenner also had 20+ but it ultimately wasn’t enough.

Creighton now has to go on the road for its next two battles, taking on Providence and Xavier. Both programs are on the road, making those games something the Bluejays should take seriously. To stay in the Big East title race, they’ll need to find a way to win both of them.
