7. Marquette Golden Eagles - 17-5 (8-3 Big East)

The Eagles had two road games in Big East play this past week against teams who’ve been struggling. Still, it’s hard to win games away from home against power conference opponents with some talent. The first game was against Villanova, who really needed a win to get on the right side of the bubble.

It was a close game for the most part but without Kam Jones, Marquette was able to hold on for the 85-80 win. Tyler Kolek was the star of this one, going for 32 points, nine assists, and six rebounds. Four others were in double figures as well, including Stevie Mitchell stepping up with 12 points and nine rebounds.

The next game was at Georgetown, a game that ended up never being in doubt. Up by around 40 points at one point, Marquette was able to coast to a 91-57 victory. In his return from injury, Kam Jones went for 31 points in just 21 minutes of game time. Kolek had 17 points and eight assists, while Oso Oghodaro had a double-double.

With a six-game win streak, the Eagles are at home against St. John’s, which has been on a skid as of late. Now two games down to UConn in the standings, Marquette will need to keep winning to stay within range of the regular-season title.
