The final Saturday of the regular season was a huge day on the bubble and it was a day full of upsets in the conference tournaments. It also saw the first ticket punched to the NCAA tournament. The Morehead State Eagles out of the Ohio Valley are the first team to punch their ticket to the NCAA tournament. In other conference tournament action High Point was upset by Longwood on their home floor in the Big South tournament. In the Northeast Conference Merrimack beat Le Moyne and Wagner upset top seeded Central Connecticut. In the Southern Conference tournament Samford, ETSU, Furman, and Chattanooga all won. ETSU and Furman had upsets of higher seeds in the tournament. Texas State continues their run through March as they are now in the semifinals of the Sun Belt after upsetting Troy. Arkansas State, Appalachian State, and James Madison all won their games in the league tournament as well.

There were other conference tournaments but nothing notable happened yet. In non-conference tournament games Houston blasted Kansas to win the Big 12 outright. Kansas State beat Iowa State, Northwestern hammered Minnesota, Florida Atlantic beat Memphis, St. John’s beat Georgetown, and Texas beat Oklahoma. These ranked teams held serve today as Creighton beat Villanova, Kentucky beat Tennessee, Alabama beat Arkansas, South Carolina beat Mississippi State, BYU beat Oklahoma State, USC beat Arizona, and UConn blew out Providence. Utah State won the Mountain West, and North Carolina beat Duke for the season sweep. It was a huge day of hoops.

Yesterday I went 68-27 in my picks that brings my 123 day total to 3,684-1,532 overall. Welcome to the final day of the regular season and exactly seven days from Selection Sunday.
