NCAA Basketball: Predicted Winners of last 17 Conference Tournaments of 2023-24
By Bryan Mauro
Ivy League
Dates: March 16th and 17th
Location: Levien Gymnasium in New York, NY
Top Seed: Princeton Tigers
Winner: Princeton Tigers
Princeton was my pick to win the Ivy this season and when they started out 15-1 it looked like that was going to be the case. I did not know that the top three teams in the Ivy would all beat each other. After the dust settles it still looks like the Tigers are the team to beat. Princeton has the best offense, best roster, and all-around best team. The experience from making the Sweet 16 last year doesn’t hurt either. Princeton and coach Mitch Henderson lead the Ivy League in scoring and the Tigers turn the ball over the least amount of any team in the country.
Xaivian Lee is the star and my pick to win the Ivy League Player of the Year. Princeton is going to be a very tough out in the Ivy League tournament and in the NCAA tournament they will pose numerous problems like they did last year. Mainly from their experience, their ability to shoot the ball, and their ability to not turn the ball over.
Sleeper: Brown Bears
The sleeper in the Ivy can always be one team. Ivy Madness only takes the top 4 teams from the Ivy regular season and there are only two games to determine a champion. Brown qualified for their first Ivy Madness this season and there is a significant talent gap between them and the rest of the teams in the tournament. Kino Lilly is the star for Brown but they will likely not win a game but since my rules said the Sleeper had to be a team outside of the top three Brown is my only option.
