With this being "Finals Week", you'd think that there wouldn't be a lot of drame in NCAA Basketball, since most teams are playing just one game each. And yet, there were a number of surprising results. The biggest was Northwestern, who previously beaten No. 1 Purdue, lost at home to Chicago State, who until recently was one of the worst teams in the sport.
Thanks to a loaded Saturday slate of games, a bunch of ranked teams fell. That includes three teams that entered the weekend without a loss, leaving just four left. Check out where they, along with everyone else, was slotted in this week's NCAA Basketball top-25 power rankings.
Honorable Mention: Wisconsin Badgers - 8-3 (0-1 Big Ten)
After getting stomped by Arizona last week, Wisconsin was able to bounce back to beat Jacksonville State, 75-60. Forwards Steven Crowl (19 pts and 9 rebs) and Tyler Wahl (16 pts and 7 rebs) led the way for the team. They take on Chicago State next, a team looking for two straight Big Ten victories.
HM: Virginia Cavaliers - 9-1 (1-0 ACC)
Virginia needed all 40 minutes to get over Northeastern, trailing by double-digits at one point. Reece Beekman was the lone player in double figures, scoring 21 pts to help survive the upset bid . Up next is a road battle at Memphis, one of the more intriguing games of the week.
HM: Miami Hurricanes - 7-2 (1-0 ACC)
After losing by 27 points against Colorado, the Hurricanes had a tough fight against La Salle. They were able to pull off the 84-77 victory, thanks to 25 pts from Wooga Poplar, along with 23 pts and 8 rebs from big man Norchad Omier. Up next is a battle with Stonehill at home on Thursday.
