19. Memphis Tigers - 8-2

Since the release of the preseason AP top-25 poll, the Tigers have been just outside of the official power rankings for NCAA Basketball. There were chances where the AAC team could've slid in, but back-to-back losses to Villanova and Ole Miss kept them out of reach. But after surviving VCU in overtime, the Tigers last Sunday pulled off the road upset at Texas A&M.

The final score was 81-75, led by 29 pts and 7 rebs from wing David Jones. Jahvon Quinerly had another great game himself, going for 24 pts and 5 asts. Caleb Mills also was in double figures with 13 off the bench.

The next game was at home against Clemson, one of the last unbeaten teams in the sport. Early on, it looked as if the Tigers of the ACC would stay that way, up by seven at the break. But credit to Coach Hardaway and Memphis for making the comeback and getting the final baskets to win the game, 79-77. Jones led all scorers again with 22 pts, while Quinerly had 17.

And reinforcements are on the way, as Memphis landed the commitment of Kansas State grad transfer and double-digit scoring forward, Nae'Qwan Tomlin. It's unknown when he'll officially join the team but they could use him against their next opponent, Virginia, on Tuesday.
