NCAA Basketball: Purdue, Kentucky, Memphis rises, Baylor and Gonzaga falls in latest top-25 power rankings
18. James Madison Dukes - 10-0
After beating Sun Belt foe Ole Dominion, James Madison not only remained unbeaten on the season but also moved to 3-0 in true road games. They had another one coming up this week in Hampton, a CAA team that had one of the top-scoring offenses in NCAA Basketball.
That showed in the first half of the game, as the Pirates actually had a 42-41 halftime lead. However, the Dukes got out on a big second-half run to quell the upset talk quickly, pushing out to an 88-71 victory. The 29 pts allowed by the Dukes was what made a big difference in the game.
It was a balanced scoring effort from James Madison, with six players scoring in double figures. Xavier Brown led the team with 17 pts off the bench, while Jaylen Carey (12 pts and 10 rebs) also had a big game off the bench. Guard Michael Green went for 16 pts and 8 asts to pace the starters.
The surprise story continues for the Dukes, as they now take on a pair of MEAC opponents in Coppin State and Morgan State. Since the Morgan State game is on the road, that could be a tricky game to watch.
