NCAA Basketball: Ranking of top 100 impact transfers for 2024-25 season
100. Zed Key - Dayton Flyers
2023-24 season stats (at Ohio State): 6.6 ppg and 4.1 rpg
The veteran big man was a double-digit scorer when he was a starter at Ohio State but saw his minutes decrease last season in favor of Felix Okpara. He moves down to the A-10 level as the replacement for DaRon Holmes, who won Conference Player of the Year. Key won’t be a 20 and 10 performer like Holmes was but the Flyers will need him to look like the junior version to remain league contenders.
99. Chad Venning - Boston College Eagles
2023-24 season stats (at St. Bonaventure): 13.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg
The 6’10 center averaged 13 ppg in two years at the A-10 level, including five games of 20+ points last season alone. Venning replaces star big man Quintin Post inside for the Eagles and expect him to get career-high minutes, as there’s little depth in the frontcourt on the roster besides him.
98. Jared Coleman-Jones - San Diego State Aztecs
2023-24 season stats (at Middle Tennessee): 11.0 ppg and 7.6 rpg
The 6’10 big man was an All-CUSA performer in his first season as a full-time starter, surprisingly shooting better from deep than he did from inside the arc. He ended last season with 10 straight double-digit scoring outings, including 20 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Western Kentucky. Coleman-Jones is the replacement for star big man Jaeden Ledee, one of the top scorers in the country last season.
97. Dre Davis - Ole Miss Rebels
2023-24 season stats (at Seton Hall):15.0 ppg and 5.9 rpg
The 6’5 guard posted career-high numbers in his fourth year, shooting 49% from the field and having five games of 20+ points, including 28 points and seven rebounds in a win over DePaul. He replaces Brandon Murray and Allen Flanigan on the wings and will either start or be the 6th Man for the Rebels next year.
96. Kobe Johnson - UCLA Bruins
2023-24 season stats (at USC): 10.9 ppg and 3.3 apg
Johnson is a 6’5 guard who was a double-digit scorer in two years as a starter at USC but his specialty is defense, being a former two-time all-league defender. That’s what UCLA will need from him, hoping to improve from last year’s defensive issues. Of all the incoming guard transfers, Johnson is most likely to start on the wing.
