NCAA Basketball: Ranking of top 100 impact transfers for 2024-25 season
5. Cliff Omoruyi - Alabama Crimson Tide
2023-24 season stats (at Rutgers): 10.4 ppg and 8.3 rpg
The 6’11 center has developed a reputation for being one of the best interior defenders in NCAA Basketball. Omoruyi was one of the top shot-blockers too, averaging three a game and having a season-high of eight a couple of times. He’s an upgrade over Mohamed Wague and Nick Pingle at the five-spot for the Tide and gives them a defensive boost to balance out the already strong offense.
4. Jeremy Roach - Baylor Bears
2023-24 season stats (at Duke): 14.0 ppg and 3.3 apg
The 6’4 guard started 108 career games at Duke, coming off a career-high season where he shot 47% from the field and 43% from three-point range. Roach had 18 games of at least 15 points, including 22 points on the road at Arkansas. Baylor gets a proven lead guard to replace Rayj Dennis in the backcourt who is just as good of a shooter.
3. Kadary Richmond - St. John’s
2023-24 season stats (at Seton Hall): 15.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg, and 5.1 apg
Richmond was already one of the best players in the Big East, being a constant triple-double threat while also averaging over two steals a game. That includes a 21-11-11 triple-double in an overtime defeat to Creighton. He’s now at St. John’s, giving them a proven power conference star, paired with Deivon Smith in the backcourt.
2. Oumar Ballo - Indiana Hoosiers
2023-24 season stats (at Arizona): 12.9 ppg and 10.1 rpg
The 7’0 center is one of the best rebounders and defenders in NCAA Basketball, averaging a double-double last season. Among his 19 double-doubles total was 22 points and 13 rebounds against Cal, along with 13 points and 21 rebounds versus FAU. Ballo replaces Kel’el Ware at center for Indiana, with a case being made that they’re upgrading at that position.
1. Johnell Davis - Arkansas Razorbacks
2023-24 season stats (at Florida Atlantic): 18.2 ppg and 6.3 rpg
The 6’4 guard was the Co-AAC Player of the Year at FAU, shooting 48% from the field and 41% from three-point range. The senior leader had six games of at least 25 points, including a career-high 35 points in overtime against Arizona, along with 29 in a key road win over North Texas.
Davis is the star pickup for Coach Calipari at Arkansas, whose roster includes plenty of young stars, along with some young Kentucky transfers. With Tennessee transfer Jonas Aidoo being more of a rebound/defender type than a pure scorer down low, the pressure will be on Davis to be a successful lead guard for the Razorbacks to be a contender in both the SEC and potentially March Madness.
