St. John’s Red Storm

At one point in the initial recruitment, St. John’s looked like a favorite for Bland to bring him close to home. All of the top guards on the roster this past senior were seniors, including Daniss Jenkins and Jordan Dingle. This is a team without a ball-handler on the roster but so far, having missed on a few targets so far.

The current roster still needs some work to do but head coach Rick Pitino is still someone players will want to play for. And the playing time is certainly there for Bland to come in as the lead guard for the hometown team. Could the Red Storm try for a second round with the five-star?

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders have lost its starting backcourt this offseason in Joe Toussaint and Pop Isaacs, with Isaacs hitting the transfer portal. That leaves the team with reserve guard Chance McMillian, along with Drake transfer pickup, Kevin Overton. Coach Grant McCasland had a solid first year but he needs to continue adding talent to compete in the Big 12.

Texas Tech doesn’t have a commit in the 2024 recruiting class and there’s a question as to whether McCasland can recruit at a high enough level. Fland would check both boxes of being a big name that can play at the point and get plenty of early minutes, without having to deal with a ton of competition.
