North Carolina Tar Heels

It’s not just Duke trying to get into the mix with Ament but its rival as well. With Harrison Ingram now gone, the Tar Heels will be using senior forward Jae’lyn Withers for a lot of minutes at the four-spot. Ament is the kind of spacing forward that Coach Hubert Davis wants to have on his team and if the Blue Devils lands its primary frontcourt targets first, it could make things easier for UNC in this recruitment.

Virginia Cavaliers

Speaking of Duke, Virginia is connected to them in a way, landing former 5-star prospect, TJ Power. Ideally, he’s the next great forward for the program and they could still target Ament, playing them both in the frontcourt to maximize offense, something that hasn’t been much of a strength for the program. As a local prospect, Coach Tony Bennett should make a full-court press to get some momentum back for the Cavaliers.

Virginia Tech Hokies

The other “local” school in the mix for Ament should be Virginia Tech, a team who is rebuilding after losing several big pieces. Coach Mike Young has had some great forwards develop into all-league players for him, including Keve Aluma and Justyn Mutts recently.

Of course, coming off a rough past season and potentially sliding down the ACC ladder, the Hokies may struggle against the natural blue bloods for Ament’s signature down the road.
