Baylor Bears

There’s a good case to be made that Scott Drew and Baylor have become the best destination for perimeter players, considering how many of them develop into future star pros. JaKobe Walter is looking like a projected top-5 NBA Draft pick, while former Toledo guard Rayj Dennis has been one of the top impact transfers of the season.

Those guys will leave and there’s a good chance that the two class of 2024 five-star guards (Jason Asemote and VJ Edgecombe) will only be around for one season. So Johnson can come in and be the focal point of the offense right away and based on recent history, that should bode well for both him and the team.

Kansas Jayhawks

While Baylor has recently become a top-tier program in NCAA Basketball, the Jayhawks have been this way for decades, especially in the Bill Self era. They’re going to be set to move on from Dajuan Harris Jr. and Kevin McCullar, though they do have Elmarko Jackson and current commit Labaron Philon going forward.

Freshmen don’t always take starring roles at Kansas and with the transfer portal being an option, Johnson may not have the same kind of usage here compared to some of the other options. Still, there are plenty of appealing points that the Jayhawks can make to make up for it, including that they’re always in the mix to make a deep run in March.
