USC Trojans
This year hasn’t gone well for USC, despite how much talent is in the backcourt. No. 1 freshman guard Isaiah Collier will be gone after this year, along with senior guard Boogie Ellis and likely Bronny James as well. So on one hand, there’s going to be plenty of room for Johnson to come in and have a big impact.
Playing in Los Angeles can be big for marketing purposes for someone like Johnson, similar to JuJu Watkins on the women’s team. Of course, that will happen if the Trojans are good, which may be a question going forward since all of the key players will be gone soon.
West Virginia Mountaineers
Another team having a rough year is WVU, mainly because of the roster absences throughout the season for the team. There’s going to be a ton of roster turnover too, as Kerr Kriisa, Noah Farrakhan, and Kobe Johnson will be gone in the next two years.
The biggest question for the program is how they’re going to deal with the head coach situation. Interim Coach Josh Eilert has been dealt a rough hand but it’s hard to see the Mountaineers not try to find a bigger name in the offseason. Depending on who they’d get, Johnson could be more interested in them.
