NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 10 teams for 4-star SG Braylon Mullins
Purdue Boilermakers
The Boilermakers hoped to have its star wing of the future in Kanon Catchings, a top-40 commit. But after he de-committed and went to BYU, the spot could be open for someone like Mullins to come in. There are other young guards in the mix, such as Gicarri Harris, Myles Colvin, and Cam Heide. There may be a logjam at first with this option but once Fletcher Loyer and Braden Smith move on in two years, then Mullins could take over.
Tennessee Volunteers
The majority of the backcourt for the Vols will be seniors this upcoming season, including Jordan Gainey, Jahmai Mashack, and incoming transfer, Chaz Lanier. After seeing the big senior campaign Dalton Knecht had last season, Tennessee will certainly be appealing for pure scorers such as Mullins. Plus, he’d get into the rotation as a freshman to help replace all of the lost production.
UConn Huskies
The Huskies have had great success with shooters for the past two years, including notable sharpshooter stars, Cam Spencer and Jordan Hawkins. The hope is that Saint Mary’s star Aidan Mahaney can fill that void, as well as 5-star wing prospect, Liam McNeeley.
Unless one of them goes pro after next season, Mullins would have to come off the bench as a freshman at this option. However, given how successful the program has been, Coach Dan Hurley could sell on him waiting a bit before being the next star for the Huskies.
