NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 12 teams for 5-star big Chris Cenac
Tennessee Volunteers
Barring an unexpected departure, Tennessee should have its center situation set for the next two years. Ohio State transfer Felix Okpara and four-star class of 2025 commit Dewayne Brown II are on board. Yes, Cenac is rated higher than either, and the Vols could want to upgrade to that position. It also asks how aggressive they’ll be after him since the guard positions are a bigger priority in the 2025 roster.
Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns are now in SEC country, and their recruiting has to reflect that. So it makes sense why they’re after a Louisiana native. The center position is its biggest need on paper, with starter Kadin Shedrick leaving after next season. There’s no competition for playing time and he’d get to play for a nationally-recognized program with a good chance of making the postseason.
UConn Huskies
A big part of the back-to-back national title runs for UConn these past two years has been the stellar play of the center position. Adama Sanogo and Donovan Clingan developed into two of the best bigs in all of NCAA Basketball, and that should be a major selling point to watch.
UConn will lose Samson Johnson after this season, and Michigan transfer Tarris Reed will be a junior who tends to play around 23 mpg. Cenac could easily emerge as the next star big man for the program. He could be part of the best all-time recruiting class, depending on who of the other 5-star talents they can get.
