NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 3 teams for 4-star 2025 guard Amari Evans
In the latest updated recruiting rankings for the 2025 NCAA Basketball class, one of the top risers up the ladder is Amari Evans, a 6'5 guard/wing originally from Pittsburgh but currently plays for Overtime Elite in Georgia.
Evans, whose size and two-way ability make him an intriguing long-term prospect, is reportedly down to a few options, including a hometown contender. Which of them is the best potential fit? Here's a closer look below.
Pittsburgh Panthers
As the "hometown" team, Pittsburgh should have a real shot at landing him. They'll lose seniors Ishamel Leggett and Damian Dunn after this season and potentially Zach Austin as well. The team does have three-star commit Omari Witherspoon and are after top-50 targets Derik Dixon and Isaiah Denis. If they miss out on both, landing Evans will be very important.
Tennessee Volunteers
The Vols are likely going to add multiple guards in the 2025 class to replace what's going to be a lot of production leaving from the senior class. Jordan Gainey, Jahmal Mashack, and transfer Chaz Lanier will be gone, leaving uproven guards, Cameron Carr and freshman Bishop Boswell. The past success of Dalton Knecht will be a selling point to someone like Evans here.
Xavier Musketeers
Coach Sean Miller has some Pittsburgh ties of his own so that could help him trying to get Evans out of the Steel City. The team already has a couple of guard commits in Nykolas Lewis and Jayden Forsythe but considering how many senior guards they have on the roster such as Donte Maddox Jr. and Marcus Foster, they can still offer room to Evans.
Evans has continued to develop at a fast rate to the point where one of these teams are going to get a gem in its 2025 class. Pittsburgh could be a favorite but Coach Miller and Rick Barnes from Tennessee shouldn't get dismissed in this recruitment either.
