One of the top scorers in all of NCAA Basketball last season was Tyson Acuff, a 6’1 guard who at Eastern Michigan, averaged 21.7 ppg, good for top 10 nationally. He’s at Rutgers for his final season in college. But a case can be made that he isn’t even the best guard in his family, with his cousin, Darius Acuff, set to join a year from now.

Darius is a 6’1 playmaker from Detroit, Michigan, and a consensus 5-star prospect and ranked in the top 10 overall in the 2025 recruiting class. According to 247sportsComposite, Acuff is the best true point guard in the entire class, thanks to his incredible offensive playmaking skills.

Point guard is arguably the most important position in both college and the pro game and having a dynamic one is needed for a team to win. That’s why Acuff has been in high demand for the past couple of years, viewed as a near-guaranteed “one and done” recruit to the NBA Draft.

The recruitment for Acuff has reached another level, with four programs making the final cut for his services. They’re UConn, Michigan, Arkansas, and Kansas, two recent national champions, a local option, and a coach responsible for sending dozens of players to the next level.

Which of these four programs is the best potential fit for Acuff? Looking at the projected future rosters and potential of winning, here’s a closer look at each situation.
