UConn Huskies

Pros

When a team is coming off two straight national championships, it’s hard to find nothing but “pros” at UConn. Especially with Coach Dan Hurley returning to the program after passing up the Kentucky and Los Angeles jobs. He’s now sending players to the NBA at a high rate, leading all of NCAA Basketball with four players being drafted in the recent draft.

One of them was Stephon Castle, a former top-20 prospect who ended up getting picked 4th overall. Coach Hurley hasn’t had a player as naturally gifted as Acuff, who would replace Hassan Diarra as the next starting point guard on what should be considered a “blue blood” program.

Cons

Again, what’s bad that one can say about UConn Basketball right now? Maybe after all this winning, the program can become complacent and fall back a bit. Could they want to add more transfers to remain national title contenders and that impacts the kind of role that Acuff could have? Or maybe they focus more on Meleek Thomas, another 5-star target?

Plus, who knows what job could open a year from now that Coach Hurley will be offered? Maybe an offer comes that he simply can’t refuse. These are merely speculations but one thing Arkansas and Kansas can say is that their head coaches have been doing this for longer and their track record still remains flawless, even if Hurley has all of the momentum right now.
