NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 4 teams for top-40 PG Acaden Lewis
Several top prospects in the 2025 NCAA Basketball recruiting class have been on the national radar in the past few weeks when it comes to updates on their respective recruitments. One is Acaden Lewis, a 6'3 "point guard from Washington, D.C., who is now down to just four teams.
Lewis, a consensus top-40 prospect and quality ball-handler, has been making some visits among the notable contenders and could be coming to a decision soon. Which of them is the best potential fit?
Here's a closer look below.
Duke Blue Devils
The Blue Devils have three ball-handlers on the roster (Sion James, Tyrese Proctor, and Caleb Foster), all of whom could be gone after next season to the pro ranks. The program doesn't have any 2025 commits for now but will, of course, land some eventually. The one prospect to watch here is Cayden Boozer, a 5-star point guard and son of former Duke star, Carlos Boozer. If he picks the Blue Devils, doesn't that make them less viable for Lewis?
Kentucky Wildcats
The Wildcats have two 5-star commits in the 2025 class already, including star point guard, Jasper Johnson. Considering that the program is losing seniors Kerr Kriisa and Lamont Butler, there's a way to play both freshmen big minutes on next year's group. Assuming that Kentucky doesn't add another top guard prospect, this is a spot where Lewis can come in and have an early impact.
North Carolina Tar Heels
UNC has two main guards in star senior RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau, the projected starting PG. He might not be around for much longer if he has a breakout and there's no true replacement for him on the roster. This is an option where there's a clear pathway for Lewis to get big minutes compared to the others.
UConn Huskies
The Huskies have been in the mix for a number of top class of 2025 prospects but have yet to land anyone. They're currently in the mix for 5-star targets Meleek Thomas and Darius Adams as well and if they land either of them, may be out of the running to Lewis.
