NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 5 teams for 2025 4-star PG Azavier Robinson
Another talented point guard in the 2025 NCAA Basketball recruiting class has reportedly updated their respective recruitment. This time it's Azavier Robinson, a 6'1 ball-handler from the state of Indiana. He's a talented offensive player, capable of scoring and passing.
Robinson is now down to five teams, including a few local options. From a roster standpoint, here's a close look at his potential fit with each of those schools.
Butler Bulldogs
After losing starter Posh Alexander to the transfer portal, Butler's point guard situation for next season with come down to Landon Moore and transfer Kolby King, neither of whom are true ball-handlers. This is a local option where Robinson has a good shot at a nice early role and depending on how Moore and King look at running the offense, could possibly start on Day 1.
Cincinnati Bearcats
The Bearcats and Coach Wes Miller have found their footing in the Big 12 and will look to keep adding top-100 talent for the future. Senior guard DayDay Thomas will be gone after next season, while Jizzle James will be waiting for his time to be the lead guard. The Bearcats did add JJ Rembert to the 2024 class but could use another ball-handler like Robinson, though there's not an immediate path to a starting gig on the perimeter on paper.
DePaul Blue Demons
With former Ohio State HC Chris Holtmann now in charge, DePaul could become a viable place for top regional targets again. But their offseason moves could impact their chances with Robinson. Among the 12 incoming transfers, three were freshmen ball-handlers with multiple years of eligibility left. One of them is Layden Blocker, a former top-30 prospect and transfer from Arkansas. This is a situation where Robinson would have to see how the Blue Demons look on the court to see where he would potentially fit.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Coach Micah Shrewsberry's short time as an NCAA Basketball has been great for point guards, including Jalen Pickett at Penn State, as well as freshman star, Markus Burton. He could be a pro prospect to watch next season so the team may need to make sure they aren't without depth. But if Burton stays a while and with the team having four-star freshman Cole Certa on board, Robinson may have to deal with a logjam.
Xavier Musketeers
The Musketeers' ball-handler situation includes four guards on the current roster. Dayvion McKnight and Dante Maddox will be gone after next season, leaving Boise State transfer Roddie Anderson III and Trey Green. The one to watch is Green, a former top-100 prospect who played limited minutes last season. If he's a breakout player who solidifies his own role, Robinson may have to wait a bit at Xavier.
Of the five programs, Butler stands out as the team that can confidently offer early playing time and a clear role to Robinson. But expect all five to remain in the mix for his services. Since none of the teams made the NCAA Tournament last season, whichever program has a big campaign could prove big in this recruitment.
