One of the best NCAA Basketball class of 2025 prospects in the DMV area is Derek Dixon, a 6'3 ball-handler from from Washington, D.C. He's a consensus four-star talent ranked in the top-60 overall, capable of running an offense and is good enough of a shooter to play off-the-ball.

A decision is reportedly coming for Dixon, announcing his team on September 27th. Six teams are officially in the running, with the last visits already set. But which of them makes the most sense? Here's a closer look at how Dixon would fit.

Arizona Wildcats

The Wildcats will have former Pac-12 Player of the Year guard Caleb Love for one more year so there's a need for a new scoring guard. However, Dixon reportedly cancelled a visit with Arizona recently, so it likely means their chances of landing him are low.

North Carolina Tar Heels

UNC has been aggressively after Dixon for the last few weeks, looking for a future replacement for ACC Player of the Year guard, RJ Davis. Dixon would have the chance to have the ball in his hands even more if Elliot Cadeau has a breakout campaign and goes pro. Look for them to be a contender in this decision.

Pittsburgh Panthers

Coach Jeff Capel has a good history of landing DMV prospects, including last season's freshman star, Bub Carrington. Pitt will be losing seniors Damian Dunn and Ishmael Leggett after this season and sophomore Jaland Lowe could be a breakout candidate to watch. There's room for Dixon to have a role as early as a freshman, even after recently landing 3-star prospect, Omari Witherspoon.

Syracuse Orange

There's no more Judah Mintz around for the Orange but they do have senior transfers, Jaquan Carlos and Lucas Taylor. They'll be gone, while top-40 freshman guard Elijah Moore could be a "one and done" pro candidate. The x-factors here are Chance Westry and Kyle Cuffe, two transfers and former four-star prospects who have dealt with injuries. If they're healthy and providing an impact, then a logjam would form for Dixon.

Vanderbilt Commodores

New head coach Mark Byington has brought in several senior guards to keep them viable this upcoming season, including AJ Hoggard and Grant Huffman. The team does have class of 2025 commit Jaylen Dean-Vines in the backcourt but Dixon would be a nice piece for the rebuilding program.

Virginia Cavaliers

The Cavaliers recently landed top-100 point guard prospect Chance Mallory, who could replace Jalen Warley as the next lead guard. Even with Isaac McKneely and Andrew Rohde still around, Dixon could be the kind of offensive weapon that makes Virginia back to being an ACC contender. But does his style of play fit?
