Kansas State Wildcats

No program has seen its stock rise in the past month than Kansas State, who added a couple of marquee frontcourt transfer targets (Ugonna Onyenso and Coleman Hawkins) to create a top-25 caliber roster for next season. They could very well become a more appealing option if things go well in the 2024-25 campaign. Coach Jerome Tang can sell Thomas on his past success with the other lead guards, Tylor Perry and Markquis Nowell.

Pittsburgh Panthers

As the “hometown” team, Pittsburgh is going to be in the thick of the competition here. And the program has certainly become more appealing in the past two years, coming off back-to-back 20+ win seasons and sending Bub Carrington to the NBA after a strong freshman campaign. Thomas would be able to reunite with his high school teammate Brandin Cummings, a 4-star incoming freshman prospect and he’d easily be the focal point of the offense in year 1.

UConn Huskies

While Kansas State and Pittsburgh are on the rise, no NCAA Basketball program has more momentum than UConn, coming off two straight national championships. Coach Dan Hurley, who is back for the foreseeable future, just got three guards on last season’s roster to get drafted, including freshman guard Stephon Castle being drafted in the top 5.

Thomas would be the highest-ranked commit in the Hurley era and would have the chance to be the go-to option for the national juggernaut. With 5-star target Darius Acuff not in the mix anymore, look for the Huskies to go all-in on Thomas now.
