Duke Blue Devils

Pros

There are many positive reasons why a star prospect goes to Duke. The path to going to the NBA seems to be the easiest. Even Dariq Whitehead, who averaged 8.3 ppg in an injury-riddled freshman, ended up being a 1st-round pick in the past NBA Draft.

The Blue Devils already have the No. 1 recruiting class but if they were to add Edgecombe, it would be a truly historic class that would get all of the offseason attention. They’d be the No. 1 preseason team for 2024-25 class and that alone would hype up Edgecombe’s value, assuming he’s good enough to play.

Cons

And “good enough to play”, is also the major negative recruiting point if you’re a Baylor and Kentucky supporter. Duke already is loaded on the wings in the 2024 class, having top-10 shooting wing Kon Knueppel, along with top-10 wing commit, Isaiah Evans.

And with No. 1 overall commit Cooper Flagg set to get all of the minutes at the four-spot, someone would have to be left out of next season’s rotation. If you’re Edgecombe, are Duke's pros worth the risk?
