2. Michigan Wolverines

New head coach Dusty May added some key transfers to build up the roster, including former Ohio State guard Roddy Gayle Jr. and big men, Vlad Golden and Danny Wolf. On paper, the one position of need is on the wings, as returning guard Nimari Burnett is the projected starter.

On paper, Watkins would easily start at Michigan. Plus, he and Gayle would be the go-to options on offense and have a large role. If the pieces all fit, this could be an NCAA Tournament team, one that Watkins would get to play a pivotal role on.

1. St. John’s Red Storm

There are multiple factors that could help St. John’s in this recruitment. The first is location, as they’re close to his home in New Jersey. With the news that Chris Ledlum and Jordan Dingle won’t be returning, there’s a clear need on the wings for another contributor. Watkins would easily be able to play at the four-spot and get 30+ minutes.

A lineup that features Watkins, RJ Luis, and Seton Hall transfer Kadary Richmond would be elite defensively and have the ultimate amount of versatility. He’d be the missing piece to a potential NCAA Tournament roster and have a feature role while playing for another quality HC in Rick Pitino.
