8. Oregon Ducks

It makes sense why the Ducks are in the Omoruyi sweepstakes since they lost leading scorer/rebounder, N’Faly Dante. His absence leaves a big hole in the frontcourt, with Nate Bittle and Jadrian Tracey as the new projected duo inside. Heading into the Big Ten, that won’t be good enough for them to be in contention.

Coach Dana Altman is respected in NCAA Basketball and Oregon does bring back freshman star guard, Jackson Shelstad. Still, with the rest of the roster having plenty of questions, the former Rutgers big man would be at risk of not being in the Big Dance again.

7. Kansas State Wildcats

Coach Jerome Tang has already landed one notable Big Ten transfer, Dug McDaniel of Michigan. He’s the replacement for Tylor Perry at point guard. With double-digit scorer Arthur Kaluma coming back, the team will need a center to pair with him who’s effective on both ends.

On paper, Omoruyi would be an upgrade over Will McNair Jr. and give them needed frontcourt depth. The concern here is that this current team doesn’t look great on the defensive end, potentially putting a lot of pressure on the big man to clear things up. Barring another addition or two, this roster is still a ways from being a postseason contender.
