Villanova Wildcats

Although a 17-14 (10-10) record may not be ideal, the Wildcats sport elite predictive metrics, keeping them near the cut line with less than a week until Selection Sunday. Villanova will take on 3-28 (0-18) DePaul in the first round of the Big East Tournament followed by a matchup against Marquette on Thursday. If Villanova can get past Marquette, they will likely hear their name called on Selection Sunday. If not, the sheer volume of losses might be too much to include the Wildcats in the field.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

After Wake Forest upset Duke in late February, the Demon Deacons proceeded to lose three straight games to Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. To close the regular season, they finished with an 81-76 win over Clemson in a must-win scenario to keep their at-large hopes alive. With a 2-9 record on the road, and a 2-5 record in Q1 games alongside owning a Q3 loss on their resume, Wake Forest will have work to do entering the ACC Tournament.

Their NET ranking and KenPom rankings hold strong, meaning if the Demon Deacons can rattle off a few wins in the ACC Tournament, good fortunes just might be on their side.
