15. Creighton (19-7)

In recent years the Big East has certainly established itself as one of the strongest and deepest basketball leagues in the nation. Creighton has certainly been a part of that success, especially after their Elite Eight run last season. They’ve had a few unfortunate efforts this season but are now playing like one of those standout teams again, notching two more wins this past week.

Tuesday’s effort wasn’t very dramatic, as the Bluejays grabbed a 94-72 win at home over Georgetown. Trey Alexander led the team with 26 points but the real star was Baylor Scheierman, whose 15-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist performance was Creighton’s first triple-double in nearly 40 years. On Saturday, Creighton avenged an earlier loss to Butler, winning 79-57 on the road over the Bulldogs. Scheierman had 27 points and 10 rebounds while Ryan Kalkbrenner added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the program’s third straight win.

Few complaints will be had from a team sitting 10-5 in the Big East, especially when their forwards are playing as great as they have in recent weeks. Scheierman has been on an absolute tear for the last month and the Bluejays have played much better basketball across the last month or so, putting themselves in great position for March Madness. There are still goals to be met in the regular season and a rematch at home with UConn waits on Tuesday.
