10. Dug McDaniel (Michigan)

Back in 2022, McDaniel was considered a Top 100 prospect in the nation and it’s not a surprise that the DC native was lured to Michigan. Juwan Howard proved himself a talented recruiter during his time as the Wolverines’ head coach and McDaniel saw pretty decent run early in his career. We’re here to discuss his sophomore year, and despite Michigan’s struggles, he was a valuable weapon this season.

McDaniel averaged 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game while making 37% of his 3-pointers. Those raw numbers really stand out, especially when done against Big Ten competition, though the Wolverines’ struggles really dull some of that output. He was the leading scorer and ball distributor on a Michigan team that finished dead last in the Big Ten, winning just three league games.

Twin 33-point efforts in December losses to Oregon and Florida showed McDaniel’s potential, though he alone couldn’t save this Wolverines squad. He finished the season among the Top 10 in scoring and assists in the Big Ten but there was such an exodus of talent from Ann Arbor last season that McDaniel’s development alone couldn’t overcome. Nevertheless, he’s a fantastic young point guard who has a big game despite standing at just 5’11.
