While no games are played between May and October, there’s always something transpiring in the world of college basketball. We’re still too early for international trips and the coaching carousel has (mostly) settled down, though very few teams will know their full rosters for another few weeks. Fortunately, we’re not thinking about next year.

We’re still looking back at last year. It’s been over a month since the Huskies scooped up a second-straight championship and it’s certainly time to look back at some of the greatness from this past season. We’re not looking at great games or Tournament moments but the season as a whole; after all there’s plenty of stuff that goes down during one busy season of college hoops.

This article is the second step in a new project that will look at the best college basketball players from the past season. With thousands of D1 players, we have a multitude of names to choose from, especially when considering the single-digit numbers. Today’s focus is on the best players of the past season who wore #1, and it’s a considerably impressive list. We’re going to consider a number of honorable mentions, and there are probably a dozen more players that deserved mention alongside them. We’ve done our best to include the most prominent players, so let’s get right into it.
