4. Great Osobor (Utah State)

In the news recently for NIL reasons, Osobor just had a remarkably special season. He was coming off a pair of seasons as a bench piece at Montana State, contributing on a pair of Big Sky titles for a talented Bobcats crew. He showed plenty of potential as an underclassman and opted to follow head coach Danny Sprinkle to Utah State, though few quite expected the importance he’d play in Logan this season.

Now a full-time frontcourt starter, Osobor adjusted quickly to life in the MWC, averaging 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Despite his team being picked to finish near the bottom of the league, Osobor fueled the Aggies to a regular season conference title and won himself MWC Player of the Year honors in the process. He transformed himself from a great sixth man in the Big Sky to a dominant mid-major star.

Osobor played great during Utah State’s hot start to the season, dropping 32 on Air Force and 31 on Southern Utah. He was consistent during MWC play, helming his Aggies to win after win against the league. He’d even put up 29 points and 17 rebounds in a postseason win over Fresno State, though Purdue would end any thoughts of an NCAA Tournament run in the second round. Osobor recently announced he was following Sprinkle to Washington for a significant NIL settlement and it’ll be interesting to see how he’ll transition into the Big Ten.
