One of the greatest parts of college basketball is that seemingly endless narratives exist in this sport. We’re fresh off another exciting basketball season, one that ended in another UConn title, but that barely scratches the surface on the story. After all there are nearly four hundred D1 programs in the nation and each has a story to be told.

There are hundreds of D1 basketball players that even the biggest fans don’t know much about, but that’s not exactly why we’re here today. The point is that the sport is more than just the best players, the best teams, and the NCAA Tournament. We’re taking a bit of a historic look today, though we’re not looking into the distant past, merely this most recent season.

Today’s piece continues an article series that is now over a week old, one that looks at the best players from last season based on their uniform numbers. As we’ve explained a few times already, there’s nothing telling about these rankings. Any player can choose or be given any particular number; there’s no inherent advantage to wearing #1, #23, or any other particular digit. Regardless, it’s been quite an interesting process as we dove into several numbers already.

We spent time looking extensively at each uniform between #0 and #5, but things are a little different today. There are much fewer players wearing #6 through #9, so we’re going to consider those numbers at the end of this project. Instead, we’re entering the teens, with today’s focus on the best players wearing #10 from this season. We’ll start off with a long list of honorable mentions, needing to give attention to a greater number of players.
