9. Jamison Battle (Ohio State)

Battle is a strong forward from Minnesota who actually began his collegiate career five years ago at George Washington. Very solid work in the A-10 led him to transfer back home, starring with the Golden Gophers for a pair of seasons before transferring one more time. Things didn’t transpire exactly as expected for Ohio State this season but Battle still emerged in a major role for the Buckeyes.

He’d become one of Ohio State’s most vital pieces, averaging 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds while making a career-best 43% of his 3-point attempts. His overall offensive game improved once more and he actually led the Big Ten in free throw percentage as well. Battle was impactful all over the court, becoming one of the league’s most effective shooters, even though it was in something of a lost season.

In his first game against his former school, Battle dropped 25 points in a win over Minnesota. He was later a big part of the program’s revival under interim coach Jake Diebler, including a 32-point effort in a late February win over Nebraska. He’d average greater than 20 points a game in the Buckeyes’ postseason, including three games in the NIT, and his presence was certainly important to the limited success for Ohio State this past year.
