5. Jaelen House (New Mexico)

After becoming a key bench piece as an underclassman at Arizona State, House transferred to New Mexico, joining the roster when Richard Pitino took over in 2021. Since then he’s transformed into one of the most important players for the Lobos and he was certainly in that role against as a fifth-year senior.

House averaged 15.9 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, numbers that were actually a slight step back from his previous season. However, he was surrounded by more talent this season and helped take the Lobos the NCAA Tournament. He earned All-MWC honors for a third time and led the conference in steals for a third straight year, all while standing out as one of the best scoring guards in the league on a 26-win team.

House dropped 28 points on rival New Mexico State early in the season and would add a number of 20-point efforts in league play. He keyed a big win over San Diego State with 26 points and 6 rebounds and played well in a pair of wins over Nevada. He saved his best for last, winning MWC Tournament MVP honors in leading the Lobos to the title, with 29 points in the quarterfinals against Boise State and 28 in the title game against the Aztecs.
