3. Alex Karaban (Connecticut)

Every college basketball player’s career goals are different, though everyone wants to win games and titles and grab their piece of history. It’s clear that that’s something that Karaban has accomplished, winning a pair of national titles in his first two seasons of college ball. The sharpshooting forward was a full-time starter as a redshirt freshman on the 2023 title and was back for more this season, putting up even more impressive numbers.

Karaban took a step forward as a sophomore, averaging 13.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for the national champions. While he wasn’t the top scorer or rebounder on a UConn team loaded with talent, Karaban made 38% of his 3-pointers, with his shooting efforts key to the Huskies’ dominant season. After all he did help this program win a Big East Tournament and another Tourney crown.

Karaban was revered for several strong efforts earlier in the season, notably scoring 20 in a win over Indiana and a season-high 26 in wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Georgetown. He made five 3-pointers in a clutch win at Marquette in early March, part of the Huskies’ long season-ending winning streak that ended with them cutting down the nets. In the NCAA Tournament, he had 14 points and 8 rebounds in the Final Four win over Alabama.
