College basketball is a never-ending churn of talent, expectations, and unforgettable moments. Back in the olden days, a team’s roster would look completely unrecognizable four years later when everyone graduated, though the Transfer Portal has made that a more rapid process. Nowadays, players sometimes stay at schools for just a single year before departing for greener pastures.

Despite the hectic changes of recent years, the sport still delivers. We still have a brilliant NCAA Tournament every March and there are still numerous athletes who stand out with their remarkable play. One thing that won’t change is that every single D1 institution has stories to tell and players putting themselves on the line to tell those stories and bring glory to themselves and their schools.

We’re telling more of those stories today, though our scope of focus remains just on this past season. This is the next installment in our article series that focuses on breakdowns by jersey numbers. There’s nothing specific or special about certain numbers; the best players don’t automatically get one or another. Regardless, it’s already been a fascinating exercise in the previous eight installments and there’s no shortage of talent in the articles ahead.

We’ll be taking a moment to consider the best #12’s of the past year. Just over two hundred players donned this number, though among them for a few of the nation’s best offensive players. There’s a sizeable list of honorable mentions before the Top 10, with us considering each of those players before making the list. Don’t be surprised if you see an unfamiliar name today, though everyone should recognize those at the very top of the list.
