3. Isaac Jones (Washington State)

Before catching on at the D1 level, Jones had three solid seasons at Wenatchee Valley College before heading to Idaho two seasons ago. Suffice to say his lone year with the Vandals was very productive and enough to get him on other radars. Jones landed with Washington State this past offseason and grew into a very important role in the Cougars’ best success in recent memory.

His lone season at Washington State saw him become the team’s leading scorer and rebounder with 15.3 points and 7.6 rebounds a game. Jones was clearly one of the most impressive newcomers in the conference, earning First Team All-Pac-12 honors in the conference’s final season. He was not just a talented rebounder but had decent shot blocking numbers and finished 2nd in field goal percentage as well.

Few might be moved by a 27-point, 11-rebound effort against Portland State, but Jones showed up against high-profile opposition as well. He had 26 points and 11 rebounds at USC three days before 24 points and 13 rebounds in a huge upset over Arizona. Not only did he play well against the Pac-12, where the Cougars would finish 2nd, but Jones also had 20 points and 11 rebounds against Drake in the NCAA Tournament, standing out in Washington State’s first trip in sixteen years.
