7. Josh Hubbard (Mississippi State)

This Mississippi State program has been in decent shape since hiring Chris Jans back in 2022. Not only did he take the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament in his first two seasons, he’s also emerged as a developer of talent, which is certainly evident with Hubbard. This undersized guard is coming off quite the freshman campaign at Mississippi State.

Despite coming off the bench for the first half of the season, Hubbard emerged as the leading scorer for the Bulldogs, averaging 17.1 points per game while making 35% of his 3-pointers. He certainly came on strong in the back half of that season, doing enough in league play to earn Second Team All-SEC honors and an easy spot on the All-Freshman team. Hubbard also led the SEC in made 3-pointers, really rising to the occasion when he got his chance.

There were even great moments early on as he came off the bench, scoring 29 in a win over Northwestern and 25 in a bigger win against Tennessee. Hubbard averaged nearly 25 points in the Bulldogs’ final nine games, including a 34-point performance in a tough loss to Kentucky. He helped take this team to a pair of wins in the SEC Tournament though their season was ending in the opening round of the Big Dance.
