1. Achor Achor (Samford)

Mid-major basketball is always full of rising stars and Achor certainly fit that description this season. He had previously spent a pair of years at Chipola College before fitting in nicely with this Samford program. Originally joining the Bulldogs in 2022, he was a bench piece with decent production in his first year, but this past season represented a massive step forward, with Achor himself a major reason for Samford’s historic campaign.

Achor would average 16.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, making 58% of his field goal attempts and nearly 44% in limited opportunities from outside the arc. He’d lead his conference in field goal percentage, unsurprisingly earning First Team All-SoCon efforts while taking the Bulldogs to a regular season title. Not only was he one of the conference’s best rebounders and shot blockers, Achor was one of the nation’s most efficient players, rating highly in many metrics.

He played a starring role during a fantastic regular season for the Bulldogs, including 35 points and 10 rebounds in a January win at Western Carolina. He’d have several 20-point efforts in league play but saved his best for the postseason. Achor had 28 points and 14 rebounds against Furman in the semifinals and 25 points against East Tennessee State in the title game, winning SoCon Tournament MVP honors and getting the Bulldogs to the Big Dance. Next year he’ll be at Kansas State, though his final game as a Bulldog was a 23-point effort against Kansas in the NCAA Tournament.
