10. Jevon Porter (Pepperdine)

Many know about Porter’s more famous brother with the Denver Nuggets, or perhaps about his recent legal troubles. He was arrested just over a month ago on suspicion of DWI, though that came after his second season with Pepperdine. We’re focused on what Porter accomplished on court for the Waves, becoming a solid player under Lorenzo Romar even with a big chunk of his sophomore season taken away from him.

Porter averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds across 21 games with the Waves, missing more than a month of the season with a knee injury. When he was available, he was an important asset for Pepperdine, despite this being a really tough season out in Malibu. He showcased his talents, with pretty solid rebounding and shot blocking numbers despite missing nearly a third of the season and likely hopes to build on that in the future.

As for particular moments of brilliance, Porter did score 26 against Pacific in one of his first few games, but had really settled into a groove at the end of the year. He’d have several 20-point efforts down the stretch and even scored 28 in another win over Pacific, this time in the WCC Tournament. After his season ended, Porter opted to transfer and landed at Loyola Marymount; though we’ll have to see what his recent legal troubles will do for his future with those Lions.
